Table of Contents
Morcemcolor Epoxy RG 5 Kg Gray EP157 two-component anti-acid and bacteriostic, for the placement and filling of ceramic tiles and mosaics with joints between 1 and 15 mm wide. Resistant to exposure to UV rays and to meteorological and climatological action.
Composition
Two-component epoxy anti-acid mortar, where part A is made up of a mixture of epoxy resin, siliceous inerts and additives, and part B is made up of organic catalysts.
Features & Applications
- Very easy to apply and clean even compared to cementitious joint mortars.
- Stable and uniform colors on all types of tiles.
- Resistant to exposure to UV rays and to meteorological and climatological action.
- High mechanical resistance.
- No absorption.
- Bacteriostatic grouting mortar that prevents the proliferation of fungi and bacteria on its surface.
- Complete absence of cracks, fissures, or cracks after hardening.
- For installation and anti-acid filling in floors and walls, interiors and exteriors of ceramic tiles and glass mosaic with joints from 1 to 15 mm wide.
- Radiant heated flooring joints.
- Flooring and cladding for bathrooms and showers.
- Stovetops, terraces and balconies.
- Optimal chemical resistances, indicated for surfaces exposed to aggressive chemical substances, such as: cheese factories, butchers, breweries, food industries in general, also recommended for the filling of joints in swimming pools, including thermal or saline water.
- Product suitable for contact with food.
- The product can be used for the coating of ceramic tiles in environments subject to direct contact with food, such as kitchens, slaughterhouses, meat processing counters, fish, dairy products, pastry shops, etc.
- Ideal for gluing and filling mosaic joints also in pools with MORCEMDRY systems.
Stands
- The adhesive or mortar used for the installation of the ceramic pieces must be completely hardened and dry.
- The joints must be dry and clean throughout their length and depth, being empty at least 2/3 of the thickness of the ceramic piece.
- Any remaining adhesive or mortar residues between the joints should be removed.
How to use
- Cut off the corner of the bag containing component B and pour it entirely over component A (paste). Mixing ratio 100 wt/w parts of component A to every 8 wt/b parts of component B (wearing gloves).
- Mix the two components by stirring with the help of a drill with a spiral agitator until a homogeneous mixture is obtained without lumps.
- Scrape the walls and bottom of the mixing container with a spatula or trowel to avoid any unreacted product residues.
- Partial mixtures should never be made.
- The product obtained from the mixture can be worked for approx. 1 hour at a temperature of 23°C.
CERAMIC GROUTING
- Fill the joints with a rubber trowel, the product must be compacted firmly, applying it diagonally to the joints and removing the excess product with the same rubber spatula.
- The workability and hardening time of the product is significantly influenced by the ambient temperature, with the ideal temperature for the application being between +18°C and +23°C. Under these conditions, the workability time will be 1 hour and transit will be possible after 24 hours, but if the temperature is +15°C, it takes tres days to be able to transit.
- The commissioning of the pavement with chemical attacks is possible after 5 days at temperatures of +23°C and after 10 days at the temperature of +15°C.
- At temperatures between +8°C and +12°C, the product is very consistent and difficult to apply and the hardening time is enormously prolonged. It is advised not to add water or solvents to improve its workability.
- At very high working temperatures, it is advisable to apply the product quickly in order to reduce the working time due to the heat of reaction that can occur during grouting
CLEANING AND FINISHING
- Cleaning and finishing will be done when the product is still fresh and in the shortest possible time, taking care not to empty the joints and without leaving veils on the surface of the ceramic pieces.
- Manually spread clean water on the surface of the tiles, a first cleaning using a trowel with wet white felt, giving circular movements clockwise and counter-clockwise, to perfectly seal the sides of the ceramic pieces and removing the excess product that remains on the ceramic pieces. Then give a second pass with a rigid sponge (sweepex type) to obtain a joint with a smooth and closed surface, completely removing the product from the ceramic pieces being careful not to empty the joints and drying the excess water, avoiding leaving residual veils on the ceramic pieces.
- When the felt and sponge are impregnated with resin and can no longer be cleaned, they should be replaced.
- Another cleaning method is with a single brush, once the excess joint has been removed from the surface of the ceramic, clean water is spread on the grouting surface and cleaning is done with a single brush equipped with felt. Replace the felt disc when it is impregnated with product.
- If transparent veils remain on the surface of the ceramic, they can be removed after 24 hours or after the joint has hardened (depending on temperatures), using DESMOR EPOXY (consult its technical data sheet for correct use).
USE AS AN ADHESIVE
- It is also suitable for gluing glass and ceramic mosaics of any absorption and small format (no larger than 12 x 24.5 cm) on wall and floor surfaces.
- When used as an adhesive, it is R2T classified according to UNE EN 12004 standard
- Apply the dough to the substrate with a suitable notched trowel and place the ceramic using good pressure.
