Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) is a durable, water-resistant, mechanically resistant and non-rotting insulator. Placed on the waterproofing (inverted roof), in addition to insulating, it protects the waterproof sheet and improves its durability. Tongue-and-groove L-shaped side finish. It comes in 125x60x10 cm (0.75 m2) plates. It is sold in packages of 3.00 m2 (4 plates). Package dimensions: 125x60x40 (Length x height x width).
This material, which was known as Styrodur because it was one of the first brands to be introduced, has a typical thermal conductivity between 0.033 W/mK and 0.036 W/mK, has low water absorption, very high mechanical performance (between 200 kPa and 700 kPa) and a density of around 33kg/m3.
Thermal insulation reduces the thermal oscillation of day and night, which leads to a reduction in fatigue to which materials are subjected due to expansions and contractions, especially waterproofing. In addition, the non-adhesion and dry placement of the insulation layers on the waterproof film facilitates access to it for repair and maintenance work.
They can be finished as walkable or non-passable roofs, either by pedestrians or by road traffic, or as landscaped roofs. Naturally, when the insulation is directly exposed to external aggressions (thermal oscillation, rain, weight, etc,...) it must be carefully selected.
